Best Friends

Cayden and Dozer are the best of friends!

The minute we put the baby down on the floor, Dozer is right by his side. They roll around and wrestle all day long! Dozer is so good with Cayden - so gentle and playful, and always protective. Cayden grabs his face and ears with both hands, and Dozer allows him to keep hold until he's done laughing and wiggling with amusement! Surprisingly, Dozer always comes back for more!

Emotional...

Today has been an emotional day! I'm not too sure why, and I'm not complaining about it cause it's been emotional in the best way possible, but emotional none-the-less. Cyle left for work this morning...just another week day morning... around 6:30am. I listened for a minute to make sure the baby was still asleep before heading back to sleep myself. I was awakened then at 8:30 am to my son giggling hysterically all by himself in his crib. I lay in my bed, just smiling at the sound, thinking to myself, "What could possibly be going on in that little mind of his that makes him so happy just as he's waking for the day?!" This new laugh of his makes me smile every single time I hear it. It is so innocent and so genuine...and I know that something at that very minute is making this boy so happy. And in turn, as his mommy, that makes ME so happy.
So I went quietly into his room and peeked into his crib. Just as he does EVERY morning, he looks up at me and gives me a 'good morning, mommy' grin. And again I smile.
The morning continues with our normal little routine...bottle, nap then lots of playtime! I spread a blanket out on the family room floor, layed with him, and just watched, (smiling yet again) as he rolled himself all over the room, going for one toy after another. It was during this time that I thought to myself how things have changed in such a short period of time. At this time a year ago I was enjoying being pregnant, and never could have imagined the feelings that I would be having as I watch my son playing around and laughing at almost 7 months old. He amazes me every day, and I couldn't imagine my life without this little life. As he continued to play, I decided to transfer all of my pictures from the camera and my phone onto my computer. And that's when the waterworks started!! Looking through the most recent pictures of my once so tiny baby, then looking back at all of those very first hospital pictures, and then to those of him in casts and after surgery made me really reflect on all that the three of us had been through. From all of the scares during pregnancy, the fears of my labor, and his surgery at one month, to a happy, healthy, giggly little boy I see in front of me now. I have no words. I'm so thankful,so lucky, and I just feel like no matter how many times I kiss that boy throughout the day, it can never be enough! My boys are my everything. And I'm a lucky girl. I'll never forget that or take it for granted.

It's been awhile...

Okay, okay, I'm sorry. It's been awhile, I know. So here's the update I've been meaning to share!
SIX MONTHS?! Really?! That's HALF A YEAR!! (Genius...I know.)
But honestly, I can't believe its been six months already. Part of me feels like Cayden has always been a part of our lives, the other part feels like it was just yesterday that I stood in the doorway to the bathroom hugging Cyle, smiling and crying telling him that it (the TEST) was POSITIVE!
He continues to amaze us every day.
SO...you're interested in the stats?! Here's the latest and greatest:
Our Boy Cayden at six months weighs 17lbs 14oz.
Is a whopping 26.5 inches long
Has a good size head (doctor just says he'll wear a large ball cap!) No surprise if you've seen his daddy's dome!
Overall, the check-up went great (except for the bruised thighs from that mean nurse's injection technique!)
However, two days after that great visit, the booger decides to start wheezing, retracting, and running a fever. Mama didn't like it! We had breathing treatment medicine left over from his last bout of bronchiolitis, but when it wasn't improving, I hauled him back into the office. In those two days, he managed to obtain a raging ear infection, and RSV. Needless to say, he was put on an antibiotic for the ear, steroids and breathing treatments every 4 hours for his poor little lungs. We got a brand new machine delivered to the house for his treatments, and over the next 3 days he was looking well again. For having all of that going on, my little man handled it like a champ!
And as soon as he started feeling better....he decided he was ready for the next big event!!
1/27/09: He's sitting up for longer than 2 seconds on his own!!
My baby is growing up! Soon he'll be cruising around our feet at high rates of speed! (I will add pictures soon to go along with this post - I'm at work and still need to download all of my pics at home!)
This past weekend we took a trip to Van Wert to see Grandpa!! Cayden just lights up when he sees him, I love it! Cayden loves being around all of the dogs! Always entertaining in Van Wert! We even got to see Big Tom (who has nick-named my son SLUG! - great!) Chris, GG and more great aunts and uncles! Grandpa bought him a neat walker for when he's there - Cayden isn't quite tall enough to move it on his own, but very soon I'm sure! It was really nice to envision Cayden growing up in the same house as daddy (once we make all of the revisions we plan on making, and of course when Grandpa is ready to sell!) But it was really sweet to hear Cyle talk about the things he plans to do with his son there, and all of the memories he'd like to make with Cayden there. How could I say no?! SO...Grandpa says about 3 years, then we'll make the move. DID YOU EVER THINK YOU'D HEAR FROM MY MOUTH THAT I WAS MOVING TO VAN WERT, OHIO?! Still surprises me sometimes, but I really do think it will e for the best in the long run. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out!
Anyway...I'll get the rest of my life together and update some more (with PICTURES!!) this weekend!
